Picked up soil from Home Depot. For the 3rd bed I laid the carboard over the grass clippings and did not put soil underneath. Instead, I laid carboard over and put several bags of soil: one bag of “compost” and three bags of gardening soil. I think that this method was the most successful because when I went to plant, I only had to dig into the good soil. I didn’t have to pierce thru the cardboard, although I saw in a video that it was the way to do it.
Thankfully about 40 minutes after I planted, there was a great rain. In fact it was a thunderstorm. The power went out twice, lightning flashed overhead. I was grateful.
I controlled my urge to buy lots of bags of soil since I am having 2 cubic yards of leaf compost delivered next Saturday!
