Rain

Rained well tonight. I am glad. I am stressing a bit about having an automated watering system set up in time for the hot season. These days it’s already as high as 28 C (82 F). The good rain should  help restore part of the lawn that was destroyed. I sprinkled grass seeds several days ago over it, so I hope those sprout.

The pear tree has settled in nicely. The blueberry bush is taking off, and the serviceberry is showing new growth. The vegetables are all settled in, though I still want to transplant from the shade beds to the sun. One of the pepper plant’s leaves have some yellow with brown spots, which concerns me.

I haven’t had much time in the past few evenings for yard work. The grass clippings from Monday have turned into a nice heated compost pile. Although knowing that the processes in there are stimulating life and yard health, the smell isn’t so pleasant. Composted grass is hard to spread when it’s in the decaying stage. So I dropped a pile of it on some “hardy” (invasive?) large-leafed flower-type plants that I don’t want sprouting in certain places. Hoping to cook the “weeds”.
