Tonight I was able, with the neighbor’s help, to take down the last of the willow tree. He made a small cut and I pulled it down with rope. It happened to land on the stump of the first tree, thereby saving the fence from being smashed with the heavy weight of wood.
We were just in time. Two hours later the sky opened up and a heavy downpour ensued.
Tomorrow I will start to process the many, many fellings into compost, clippings, and branches. If there is a break in the rain, or if it will not rain the majority of the day, I’ll see about planting the fruit trees.
