Tomato trellis day

It was great to have some rain. As I suspected, the wind knocked over some tomato plants which landed on top of my potato plants. The potatoes got smashed. I tried reinforcing the base of the potatoes with more soil, and I hope they’ll recover.

Meanwhile, the tomatoes were growing every which way. They have outgrown my string support system so today I lashed together branches and created a trellis. I also used some cloth strips to tie up some of the big plants, and cut off all the twine.

Saving branches from the willows instead of chipping all of it has come in handy.

The melon patch has enjoyed the sun lately.

Watermelons and canteloupes, one can only hope!
