Big growth spurt

While I was away, my friend reported there was a lot of rain. I thought, “Great! Didn’t have to water the yard.” But little did I imagine I would come back to find all this:

One heirloom watermelon and one heirloom (other) melon apparently are having a competition.

I am very happy the destroyed lawn area is being used by clover and other cover stuff. There is something growing which I can’t remember if it’s alfalfa or vetch, I honestly forgot what I threw on the ground over here. But all this green compost will be awesome for future garden beds.

Clover and something else are having an awesome summer. I don’t care if I’m the only one excited about it. (Hint: My spouse is not.)

First peach of the season! It was delicious. Good tree. The outer skin was slightly tougher than peaches I’m used to buying from stores. But who cares? Peaches!

I ate the fruit and planted the seed! Yay cycle of life!

Some melon seeds which I scooped out of a melon from the store liked the idea of getting started in my garden.

Seeds from a store-bought melon. I will not be saving any seeds from these but I will enjoy their fruits.

New growth on the pear! This is exciting because I had given up on the pear and resolved to start trees from seeds instead. I thought the beetles were too much for it.

New growth!

Nice big marigolds defending the pear.

First watermelon that I’ve spotted. There are a few developing!

Well hello there!

This blog should really be called “The Forgetful Gardener”. Because I forgot what seeds I put here. But they’re all excited to get started. I meant to cover the rest of the exposed wood with soil, but I ran out of soil.

Cover seeds have taken! This was just an experiment.
